Hey friend, hope you are doing really well. It’s been years since I saw you but thanks to the miracle of Facebook and all the other virtual tools, finally we can stay in touch. I hope you are successful with your pursuits and be sure to treat that gal really nice, sound like a keeper. It was really good to catch up. Here is something I wrote when I was offline, waiting for my system to be fixed.

Your Birthday

You didn’t let many balls get by for goal

Or lost a match stupidly, God blessed your soul

Used to avoid the humdrum and always you’d be

Ready to abide the decisions of authority

Blew the band‘s trumpet better than most

I remember that night at NIFCA, still without boast

Reached out to bring youngsters up to scale

There is much I can recall but was it all real

Have no trophies attesting the memories of you old friend

Don’t have any photos even of those days back then

And now I recently looked at a photo and saw you the same way

You have not changed and you’re as funny as back in the day

Rain Rain And Rain Again!

Coincidentally I watched a program on National Geographic that addressed the stress that drought has on the lands across the hottest area in the world. Perhaps the thing that is still slow perplexing is where do the fish come from when the waters return to the ponds. I remember watching the transformation of the pond out side of my Infant’s School. I saw when there was no water and then I saw when the pond was full of “thousands” spangling in the sun.

Rain Rain And Rain Again!

Roll out those hot, lazy, crazy days

And welcome back the rain that halts the craze

It was too long now since we were in drought

No rains or cloudy skies just fires burning about

Raise your hands all you like me

And give your thanks to the Almighty

It is He that shed tears from the skies

Nurturing the earth when He heard our cries

All your prayers were not in vain

Now we finally have back the rain

Drains quenched of their burning thirst

Rains that visited the plants in the farmers’ beds first

And now fish again in ponds and flying insects in the air

I see the foliage smile with blossoms everywhere

New flowers bloom and the people in the streets

All welcome the quelling from the burning heats

Grass looks green and there are fruit on the trees

A bird bathes in the puddles and I see busy honey bees

It’s such a beautiful change in nature when rains fall

No times as wondrous, aren’t you glad God answered our call?

Some people may speak to you only five minutes in five years and still mean as much to you as others you hear all year long. I can’t categorize friendships, every one of my friends is special in their own way and although I remember most her skill to dance, natural rhythm, she spent most of her time smiling. Her smile was a mile wide and now I’m learning that her heart is just as big. Today I wish her a very Happy Birthday

Best Collins of Your Heart!

The Bible taught us to think positively and to follow the inner man. When we strengthen the spirit there is nothing we can’t overcome. But the real challenge is listening. So often we rush and say, “Something tell me to…,” but we didn’t listen and the clothes on the line got wet, the car got struck. The spirit spoke to the heart and though we heard, we do not listen. When you start following the heart, with earnest prayer, then you are well on the way to fulfilling what the Lord wants for you.

Be not dismayed

Everything will be fine if the Lord God you obeyed

Suffer not with regret

The Lord forgives mistakes that you might forget

Come all ye that labor with a heavy load

On God you can lean your muscles and your soul

Let not your heart be troubled

Live with faith and your rewards will be doubled

It’s so great to listen to the callin’s of the heart

No doubts or worries just trusting from the start

Sure with every step the Lord guides you

Only good is achieved and He will see it’s only good you do

Crossed Roads

Renee’s thread got me thinking and apparently got quite a few others too. I was recently in a car with an elderly lady driver. She had me so concern when she tried to acknowledge while maneuvering the bend. I almost thought to suggest she forget the thank you but I am glad I didn’t. The fact is, without the considerate offers to let her out, we might have been very late arriving. If this little old lady could still manage to show her appreciation then why not all of us? I thank Renee for starting this thread and my friend for sharing it with me. Here is an effort at Bajan

Crossed Roads

Can’t believe the gall uh she

Road block up, I leh she out and she ‘aint even notice me

One tout of de horn wuddah been good or just a wave

She just zoomed off, all manners deprave’

Sometimes I wish I could anticipate

Every disrespectful driver before it was too late

Dastardly, thoughtless or was it unskilled drivers

Road rage immerged because of we the ill fated survivors

One too many bad and impolite drivers crossed the line

And left a very crossed thoughtful driver behind

Didn’t wave, honk, tout acknowledge thanks in any way

So now the crossroads are filled with crossed drivers today

Snow Storms

She was so quick to accept he thought she knew him. He wanted to learn more about her but hardly got past her profile quote so as usually he called on me. I gave him special rates because of the quantity but regrettably, I am not always able to convey his real thoughts. There was no discussion; this is what I wrote from the simple quote he had sent. Careful!

Snow Storms

So unpredictable, the weather

Not unlike a man either

Only I’m not sure that I

Want to compare a snow storm and a guy

So many times we wish more inches and longer lasting too

Then when it comes, we skin somersaults and scream, YAHOO!

Only to be frustrated later, its too long, too hard

Regretting that we had placed this on our wishing card

Maybe just maybe, if we knew what to expect

Feeling Optimistic Today

All the talk about TGIF like the rest of the week doesn’t exist. I believe that people shorten their weeks my focusing on one time of the week. If you look forward for Mondays only the rest of the week might slip you by and before you know it your year is just over 52 days. Why not learn to enjoy everyday all 365.25 days. And my Christian siblings, you should fellowship all week, share the joys of His love, let people see the difference He has made in your life, your positive attitude and always giving Him His due praise.

Expectations even for the blind and deaf

Everyone looking forward to a bright weekend

Laughter with the family, time with a friend

I wonder why all the excitement

Nothing more that doing things weekdays prevent

Got those who long to go to church for fellowship

Only one day a week!? What God do they worship?

People play cricket and by sun down

They pull stumps, leave and then comes the frown

Intimidated by the pending defeat

Miserable on the job, weekend again they compete

I hear the plans for the wash to done

So many hoping to catch the sun

The pressing, the gardening and general cleaning too

I keep hearing of how much work they have to do

Come Monday people generally seem drain’

This recurs in job places again and again

Optimism? Yes, I’m feeling optimistic today

Doing the most I can everyday, in every way

And never thinking or waiting for weekends

Yesterday I learnt that every day is for family and friends

Are You In Love With Me

Not many of us ever get the chance to be in love. We love the ones we are with but we can live with them for years without being in love with them. How do we know the difference? When the romantic writers speck of being in love, they usually mean that your love for the other blinds you to all other loves, except your love for God. This love is your earthly priority, the love that conquers all. To be in love is to be under the intoxication of love.

A look penetrated but didn’t reveal

Right deep inside what hearts should feel

Eyes smile as though certain but still she was unsure

You say you love me but this time she needed more

Once her heart was broken and she said never again

Until she was certain she would never risk the pain

It happened so quickly, she had lost control

No longer could she hush her heart and soul

Lady of strength but in his hands she was like putty

One kiss and she melted and was behaved nutty

The Rainbow

I just saw a FB friend of a friend and she used a beautiful quotation of rainbows in her profile. The rainbow in its own strength is a beautiful and wondrous sight. The Bible tells us it is a sign that the Lord will never again flood the earth as He did in the days of Noah’s Ark. Thus a rainbow brings comfort to us with its beauty but now my friend’s FB friend has given the Rainbow a refreshingly new perspective

The darkness overcame the skies

Hurricane like winds grew then, surprise

Everything was calm when it appeared

Rainbow split the darkness and I no longer feared

A person once said the rainbow can be

Interpreted like a friend who brings serenity

Never a frown when a smile you need

Because such a friend is a friend indeed

It’s about time this technology start working in a positive way. More ipods and telephones should be the source of positive inspiration rather than inspiring our kids to believe more and more in this virtual world and become indifferent to what is around them. Unfortunately we are learning too often of the many who lost their lives or take lives because of the direct and indirect use of these gadgets.

I had hoped to write and submit something special for this worthy cause. You see, for years I had been advocating that a church or organization should do something similar. May be I could have been that someone, but great to know, it has already been done, started I mean and is visiting the many countries. I hope to hear some good things from Follow The Bible.

One Thing I Ask For

Every night is a promise for the day to come. I pray before selecting the one that the Lord guides me to. My interpretation of these promises are not meant to be an explanation of their meaning but rather an expansion on how I believe they speak to my life or those around me. Here is one from the first days my friend, daily telephone and devotional partner, took up new residence, where a telephone line was at the minimum 5 weeks away

Just reconnected with and old friend on FaceBook and can scarcely believe the numbers of year that have passed. I saw that his kids have grown and are themselves now of age. Wow! And he was grey. Imagine, Bruce that had such jet black hair back then now had a highlight of grey which threatens to be soon the other ways around. But the thing I remember most about this friend is his family. No doubt all families have their own challenges but this family to this public was perfect. Happy Birthday Bruce!

I wonder about dreaming, can I truly achieve the things I dream of. I have been dreaming of some thing when I was very young and it made no real sense pursuing them. Yet, sometimes when I sit and daydream of some things they seem more real. I thought of so many things in these day dreams that are now a reality. In fact, in my mind the digital age came about years before it was renaissance and computers were used decades before.

I had a dream that one day

Flying through the clouds will be our way

Only your God given body no Red Bull or caffeine

Under blue skies I will soar

Clouds in my face and new places explore

International Day For Women

There is great celebration in my heart today and this is largely because it is that time of year I get to think of all the women pass and present who have done great things to shape individuals and communities. I was recently introduced to a religion that recognizes the importance of women and their role to educate the young and I fully endorse their belief

I am woman watch me roar

Numbers have grown, we’re better than before

There are women in all walks of life, some ruling cities

Even have women in charge of countries with no royalties

Regardless to who you are a woman once tended you

Nurtured your ambition, your skills and character too

A woman may be generally weaker in frame but what of this

There are so many other areas of strength in women that exists

I am woman, I am strong and invincible

Organizations failed that treated women less than man’s equal

No job is too big or idea too small

A woman values and considers them all

Ladies refined and ladies with an edge

Doesn’t matter the type, they will equally pledge

All they have to ensure their child’s safety

You’ll never find a women to lack such charity

Faced with torture , abuse and discrimination

Only women rose above these to be the best in their Nation

Rose more equipped, to be even stronger

Were tested for years but they need be tested no longer

Oh, yes, I’m wise but it’s wisdom born of pain

My brothers still don’t realize what through it all I’ve gained

Even though I’ve come a long way and garnered great integrity

Not yet am I completed, the Lord’s not finished with me

International Women’s Day

I didn’t even know that some countries treat International Women’s Day as a holiday. I think women should be recognized for the contribution they make especially in a world that treats them as unequally. Even in the most democratic country, the USA, women still have problem being paid equal wages for equal work done. I see women that work harder than they male counterparts earning about 70% of the male’s wages.

In our lives they are many Women who

Never gave up striving for Women’s Rights too

They recognize the polarity in the work place

Equality has been a focus but our standards are disgrace’

Radio host today even featured a man who

Notoriously advocated a stone standard too

Advocating that women should walk behind

Their male spouse to show they are a subordinate kind

I can’t believe that in these modern days

Our males have people who still think these ways

Not even ashamed he spoke of women who should bow

And observe his discriminate exploitation some how

Ladies worked hard and still work hard too

Wages are disproportionate for the men’s work they do

Our women have been physically and morally abused

Many have raised our children by standards used

Every positive role by women should be applauded by society

No celebration here for what they have done for you and me

So many teachers, nurses, mothers, the lot

Do their best to ensure our children are the best we got

And through women, heads in society and professionals are their way

You must not forget to celebrate International Women’s Day

Lily Pond

When I studied Ecology I fell in love with the concept of perfect balance. I even saw how it was possible to have a fish live in a completely sealed container, this amazed me but it makes perfect sense. The thing about a good healthy relationship is the more external influences it has the less stable it is. Put two people on a deserted island and regardless to their initial feelings were, they tend to grow more and fonder of each other.

Any day will present itself in a way that is generally out of your control. I write this and I remember the many movies with rain dancers who through their songs ware able to influence the weather. The fact is, who ever has contact with the Lord Almighty can influence the weather. But what about influence the internal climate. Recently they were lots of dark clouds.

I learnt of the passing of the sister of my very close friend. In fact, all her sisters and family we like family to me. When we spoke to each other we always show the respect of family with the love and belonging. This sister was the meekest of all the girls and so soft spoken you almost had to beg her to shout in a normal conversation. I loved her and celebrate her life and wish all her love ones, the family and friends.
