There are things you do quid pro quo

Respond to complements from people you know

You’re told you’re looking well you say you look well too

Though the person looked nothing like the person you knew

Or the salutations as you pass each other along the way

Reciprocate by returning I wish you too a “Good day!”

Every act of kindness or gesture of goodwill

Countered with your complimented response is thought to be civil  

If someone loves you and you can’t reciprocate

Put them in the know from early don’t wait too late

Reciprocating is about fair value equal or better returns

Once you give back less it prompts many concerns

Call if they called and write if they wrote

And you don’t reciprocate by returning a loan to the last note

To return what is owed is not to reciprocate
