Lukkah Hey Mistah Who’s You

She looks like she is in her 60’s although she has already touched the 80’s mark. The doctor says that she also has the inners of a woman 20 years younger. This is great news because she is the oldest of her siblings and has already lost her two sisters and 4 kids. I am glad that she is living a much more peaceful life now and that the pains of the past are long behind her.

Lukkah Hey Mistah Who’s You

Life has been kind to aunt Jeanne in her old age

Usurped pressures when she was young but now turned a new page

Kind to her living and to her health

Keeps her well provided for although not rolling in wealth

And so she took time just to make a trip

Her plans were to visit most everyone and no one skip

Hoped to spend time in talks and dinners too

Expected to savor the old dishes that she once knew

Yesterday through drenching rains her plane arrived

My dad, left to pick her up as they contrived

It had been many years but they were sure to know

See beyond the aging, the wear and tear, things nature let-go

There’s hustle and bustle at the airport this time of year

All the revelers returning from Crop Over to places everywhere

Had many strange people been staring into her face

White bearded old man caught her in an unwelcomed embrace

He held on tightly and might have kissed her too

Okay bustah stop, Lukkah Hey Mistah Who’s You?

She was stunned to hear in a weakened but familiar tenor

Yah mean yah can’t even recognize yah own bruddah

Older, slimmer, long grey beard and few teeth he had

Unfortunately the years time took from my aunt were given to dad
