She Said When I am Gone

When we are locked in commitment we sometimes wish to have a chance to breathe. We may want to see what life is like on the other side, especially if you spent all your life trying to be a “Goodie two shoes.” I think that is the expression. The problem with experimenting is that you might return with paint on your face, smoke in your hair or something less difficult to was away.

She Said When I am Gone

So long all you promises that once held me

Held me from living the way I wanted to be

Every chain that bound my arms before

Should be released and binds me no more

All the days of doing things one way

I no longer am compelled to obey

Do it like this, do it like that

Was the compelling rant and idle chat

Have no need to listen now love’s gone

Every new suitor will see my new dawn

Nothing like what I used to be

I will change everything about me

All the clothes that I used to wear

Made me look outdated, like I didn’t care

Got to show the world I do

Once I step out there will be someone new

No more boring, starchy love that stays in

Evening after evening criticizing a world of sin
