Never Saw Her Smile Before

I have known her for almost 20 years and never once have I seen her smiled. She wore a frown most every where she went and spoke very little to me, usually just the social graces of Good morning, hello!

I could try again but I have grown tired trying to be nice and getting “Blood from the stone”

Never Saw Her Smile Before

Nothing seemed for her amusing

Every word to her was abusing

Violence never but always

Emotions were tensed at my slightest gaze

Rosy cheeks she had never shown

She frowned as a child and though she has grown

All is the same, no fun or jest

We tried everything possible, we did our best

Her teeth were pure white with no cavities

Each one in place and had no buccal maladies

Ready to speak but only stern

She was like red hot coals ready to burn

May be it was me I thought but from what I saw

I was like all others, we committed no flaw

Let nothing cause us to disturb her peace

Every time someone strayed we bid them to cease

But still with all we did never a smile

Earrings hung and made up face but all the while

Fixed on her face was and emotionless glare

Old to all who knew her, disturbing who ventured too near

Right from my house I was looking and surprisingly through the door

Elation was on her face, guy in her car, I Never Saw Her Smiled Before
