Today At Ninety Two

With all the pain and sorrow that has been a part of his life; Nelson Mandela still thinks of all others and seemingly puts our contentment first. This iconic man has been sharing his wisdom with us and given that he has been actively fighting for human rights, civil rights and equality for the better part of his 92 years, I listen intently at his every utterance. Most recently he advised us to pay closer attention to each other, show love and caring, make peace.

Today At Ninety Two

This special day we’ll celebrate

One of History’s best, Nelson Mandela a great

Distinguished by his passiveness

Apartheid renouncement and its blatant protest

Yes we know he was jailed for 27 years

All the while loyal to the cause and receiving global cheers

This mild mannered man soon became an icon to all

Nelson was released, became President and saw apartheid fall

It’s not surprising that as he turns 92

Nelson wants the world to be more caring of what they do

Everyone he says should celebrate his birthday

Taking a moment to show kindness, to love  and to pray

You must he said make each neighbor a friend

Turn envy into affection and make the covetousness end

We would be wise to follow his good counsel because he

Obviously shares the same words as our Lord Almighty

This is a fitting tribute. But I know you have more than this, you tend to express greatness in astooundings ways at times. Maybe you will do another one and tell us more of this great man.

Thank you for your kind remarks but it would have defeated my purpose to place an emphasis on this great man when I was highlighting that in his greatness he only wants that we think of each other.

I hope that my other works on Mandela are able to satisfy you,

Thanks for the additional. I understood the simplicity of the first, as is his character.
