The Shower Afterward

Sorry to be so disturbing to some of you but this is a real life situation that is best drawn to the attention of all those who risk moving alone in secluded areas. Please stop it! These predators have it far too easy. But they are not always strangers; sometimes they are family or “friends” and may take advantage of the circumstances. One really great weapon is a scream. Get it out as loud and as fast as you can.

The Shower Afterward

The beads of perspiration fell

Had a pungency as I could tell

Each perfectly formed before they dropped

Stop I cried but it never stopped

Hundreds of thoughts seem to crowd my head

One thought more dominant, I wish I were instead

With my friends and family

Enjoying their laughter and company

Riding through the park was never before

A risk to take but I wouldn’t anymore

Fate brought this tragedy

This imposing, greasy, smelly body

Evading the eyes of all about

Ripping away my clothes and hushing my shout

When he was finished he ran away

All I remember is his smell, dark trousers  and his shirt was gray

Ravished of my virtues, I wished I were dead

Didn’t feel clean, The Shower Afterward didn’t clear my head
