Beauty With A Purpose

Barbados Miss World competition had a really good Official Launch. I wasn’t there but I got to see some of the photos that captured precious moments of that night. I could see the ladies beaming in smiles as take their places in History. This night can never be taken away from you so my advice is to always use it to its fullest and remember that the night was not made beautiful by becoming drunk or some other social vice , it was you putting your best foot forward. Happiness can be attained through great virtues.

Beauty With A Purpose

Barbados Miss World has drawn a new breath

Exhaled the superficial to its timely death

Allowed contestants to support a noble cause

Unveiled at its Official Launch its new bylaws

That contestants will be judged for their ability

Young ladies representing a known charity

We have had all kinds of beauty shows

I remember the girls delicately on their toes

Turning on the stage in their skimpy bikini

Hardly a cover still they claimed it wasn’t all about body

Audiences screamed for more flesh still it wasn’t a flesh show

Perhaps now they can achieve dignity as pageants grow

Useful young ladies like Chaconia will

Raise the bar of purpose while still

Presenting beauty worthy to be seen

On any night she can be adjudged a Pageant Queen

Spectrum Possibilities is the charity she represents

Embracing Beauty With A Purpose makes this one of the noble events

It is about time that we got past the superficial junk that these things stand for. If they are having such international status, let it be for something that can help change the world. Too many young girls torture themselves to look like beauty queens when they have the makings of doctors, lawyers, teachers, mentors and leaders locked inside them. Kudos to the organizers for starting to shift the focus.
