Tonight Dearest

Sleep may come hard for many but I have been very fortunate of late to be able to drop off to sleep within moments of resting my head on my pillow. Perhaps I am being granted the years I lost during my latter career life. All those nights I only had 2 hrs sleep, for 20 years I did not get more than 2 hrs rest at night.

Tonight Dearest

The last thing I want to see when I go to bed

On your face, a smile, as you rest your head

Now when I wake from a good night’s rest

I want to feel your light touch across my chest

Goodnight Honey, sweet dreams tonight

Have dreams of the seashore and the warm sunlight

The cool salted air blowing from the East Coast

Dream of the things you love the most

Early morning sea baths and late evening walks

All the hugs together and the long midnight talks

Remember me in your dreams and that love casts out fear

Embrace me when I whisper sweet nothings in your ear

Sleep well Honey and hold me closely too

Tonight Dearest, a kiss goodnight, is the last thing I would do
