Rain, Rain Comes Again

My Internet access was off for well over 18 hours and that king of drought seemed unbearable. But it came at the best time. The rains had returned and the land had a cool breeze that begged you to stop and enjoy it. I spent some time looking out and it was hard to believe how much of nature seemed to have been waiting for the elusive water.

Rain, Rain Comes Again

Rotten tree branches come alive

And birds in the puddles take a dive

I see plants open their branches to great

Nimbly the raindrops they finally meet

Raindrops that were scarce for weeks now

Are straightening the tree who thirstily bow

It’s unusual to see folk dancing in the rain

Now it seems so expected they dance again and again

Clouds take their time and slowly depart

Overhead is like a night need to start

More dark clouds gather and shed their tears

Every life receives them with welcome cheers

Soil drinks the downpour and scarcely lets any go

A spray of droplets come from the trees as breezes blow

Glorious to feel the coolness after all the heat

A refreshing breeze from head to feet

It was a terrible drought as the island missed the rain

Now finally we sing Rain, rain comes again

Even without the internet being down, these are the pleasures we should all take time to enjoy. I have stopped worrying about catching a cold, because walking in the rains seems to feel so good and refreshing lately.
