It’s Some Kind Of Wonderful
I walked the lonely stretch of road Turned no where, just walked with my heavy load Showed no end, no promise ahead
Sun scorched my feet and the sign I read One mile ahead, yet it seemed much more Miles I had been walking, miles galore Exploring new turfs strange to me
Keen to uncover what I would see I then saw a light, small but clear No flickering, just a beam and when I got near Didn’t hesitate, I went right in
Opened the door because I had been Faint and weak from the sun
Went in with no knock, I wanted it be done On the inside there was a chair by a fire place Not yet lit but it seemed like the perfect place Down I sat and rocked and fell asleep Evening had gone when I cracked my eyes to peep Resting there had been so great I thought that if I fully awoke Figment of my imagination would be revealed like a morbid joke Unlikely occurrence though, it was a reality Life was now a place of comfort, refuge from the drudgery
