BIM - Barbados Island Memories

When I wrote the book on Barbados Island Memories , I was reminiscing of good old Barbados, where I grew up. Once before we were scared to walk through neighborhood only because of the threat of dogs, now there is much more to be afraid of. And instead of nipping it in the bud we are watching as we gradually lose all semblance of good old Barbados. I do not agree that young people can take over, all young people have adults that they were once answerable to and those adult had and probably still have the key to make it right. How come there always seem to be a mother crying in the streets when someone has been shot dead?

BIMBarbados Island Memories

Because I May offend some people so

And Bring Internal Mêlée to others I know

Reluctantly I will write, But I May

Brave Inconspicuous Matters and boldly say

All you Bold Intrepid Men of my mother land

Don’t you see the Boulders Incapacitating Many from the sea and sand

Or are you Blind In Mind and refuse to see

So many mini Buses Intolerably Making mock sport of we

I hear them Bringing Incessant Music in the streets

See drivers Binging Intoxicatingly Morning and still taking their seats

Last week there was a fight but the Beating Incite More

And Bullets, Indeed Murder knocked on a mother’s door

Now Beautiful Island Models step gingerly

Dangers Bustle Into Mayhem while Barely In Much they scantily

Model their wear, they prematurely turn Boys Into Men

Excited By Insatiable Movement soon lose control and then

Make like they are their Babes In Marriage and hiss

Only they never stop there Bravery Inappropriately Miss

Risking their all when at the Blocks It Might

Invite more jeers and Best Intentions Muddled into hapless plight

Every Behavior Is Malicious cause those in authority turn a blind eye

So many Brutal Island Memories emerging now BIM lives a lie
