Help Haiti Now – Pitch in

I never know what to call poems that took on the same acrostic. Here I have written the acrostic poem using Help Haiti Now which is the local name given to the OCM public outreach to get the region to raise money to help Haiti after they suffered one of the worst earthquakes in living History. This 7.0 Earthquake as measured on the Richter scale devastated the Haitian city of Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. The estimated casualties although revised from 100,000 down to 45-50,000 have been revised up again to 200,000 deaths and 250,000 injured with 1.5 million displaced and homeless.

Help Haiti Now – Pitch in

Hands are reaching out to you

Earthquake destroyed the city and their future too

Life that was once bad is made impossible from this catastrophe

People died from being crushed now others die from being hungry

How easier it would be to pull them from the rocks

And secure their footing from subsequent aftershocks

It doesn’t stop there though but rather it starts

The people need food, water, shelter and hope in their hearts

International bodies have demonstrated their willingness

Nations have pitched in to rebuild Haiti from this dire mess

Our country is pitching in too and to do more
