Help Haiti Now - Hope

I never know what to call poems that took on the same acrostic. Here I have written the acrostic poem using Help Haiti Now which is the local name given to the OCM public outreach to get the region to raise money to help Haiti after they suffered one of the worst earthquakes in living History. This 7.0 Earthquake as measured on the Richter scale devastated the Haitian city of Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. The estimated casualties although revised from 100,000 down to 45-50,000 have been revised up again to 200,000 deaths and 250,000 injured with 1.5 million displaced and homeless.

Help Haiti Now - Hope

Hope is stronger than any calamity

Earthquakes show there might in seconds, hope for eternity

Life is snatched from us in the blink of an eye

Put faith first and your hope will never die

How painful to have lost so many, how tragic not to see

A brother needing a helping hand like our brothers in Haiti

In times of earthquakes in order to survive

Those rescued from the rubble need support to stay alive

In times of earthquakes when all seems lost

Neighbors turn to help each other at all cost

Our love for each other and our audacity of hope

Will rebuild nations from rubble, in tragedies hope makes us cope
