The Bajan Idol

Living Intelligently From Experience

A Path in the Lives and Experiences of People

as they affect many, taken from

lives past, lives now and lives that will be

This poem was an entry under LIFE along with some 34 others in the FCLE (Frank Collymore Literary Endowment contest. FCLEL001

The Bajan Idol

They say as they watch him go by

He’s the Island’s next number one guy

Exciting when he gets up on stage

Bringing more experience than he brings age

And I see him with the boys, on the corner of the street

Just liming and making passes at every girl they meet

Asinine behavior like all uncouth boys

Night and day they will make needless noise

I judge our idol more meticulously

Don’t take much note of their celebrity

Only who they are, when in their neighborhood

Looking there will tell me if, The Bajan Idol is good
