One Kiss Goodbye

One Kiss Goodbye

Our relationship was over, I had done the worst

Never deserved her love and in regular outburst

Erupted with impatience at the slightest mishap

Kept her in line and on one day, gave her a slap

I treated her unkindly and each time I’d apologize

She forgave dutifully but I saw fear in her eyes

Such an empowerment I thought, to have her say

God’s grace my love, have a wonderful day!

Only I would cheat, my days were with the boys

Obsessing with drugs and paying for girl toys

Did all this yet she’d kiss me and wish me God’s grace

But I was cold with her kiss and shun her embrace

Yesterday I wouldn’t hug her, now today - I can’t, ‘though I try

Eve bent over and gave my cold, lifeless body, One Kiss Goodbye
