Not Yours To Take

Living Intelligently From Experience

A Path in the Lives and Experiences of People

as they affect many, taken from

lives past, lives now and lives that will be

This poem was an entry under LIFE along with some 34 others in the FCLE (Frank Collymore Literary Endowment contest. FCLEL001

Not Yours To Take

No matter how hard the times may be

Or how deep you are diving in a slush of poverty

Though the future at best may seem bleak

You don’t have the right to put gun to cheek

Or kill your family to end their suffering

Use any of the many agencies and seek counseling

Recession has caused phenomenal job losses

Stimulation packages seem only to help the fat pocket bosses

There is a depression sweeping, some people feel toast

Only way out they think is to give up the ghost

The men are taking the lives of their families

And themselves later, like an epidemic disease

Killing yourself is bad, taking any life is a mistake

Every life was given by God and its Not Yours To Take
