Happy Birthday Vernell

A Happy Birthday to an old friend with a wish that she and her family are doing well. I understand she visited Barbados recently, how great it would have been to reconnect with her. We were never close enough but I have admired her skillfulness from when she was very young and now she shares her skills with everyone.

A Happy Birthday

Vernell Clouden

A visit to Barbados, the island they call Bim

Had every beauty there, she went with him

And through it all they found great joy

People encouraged them to make a special decoy

Pick a place they said and wait for the sun

You’ll not believe your eyes once it has begun

Beauty which lights the darkness in a gentle blast

It stays behind clouds for a moment and doesn’t last

Right then you’ll click your camera and frozen in time

This ball of fiery gold is captured and hearts it’ll sublime

How precious is the sunrise and how great to be there

Darkness is gently wiped away and gold glows everywhere

An embracing, natural view of the this golden mist in blue skies

You will never forget a sunrise’s beauty when it catches your eyes

There is more to my poem than first meets the eye. Something lay obscured like the sun waiting to come from behind it cloak of darkness.
