Sorry to hear that you had such bad experiences in the whole gift giving thing. The fact is, you are right. We must remember or learn how to receive a gift. Just the other day I saw a gift I had given, one that I expected to last a lifetime, going out in the dump and it tore my heart out, not because it had cost me fortune back then, which it did. Not because it took me the whole day to assemble, which it did. Not even because I asked the shop people to hold it a few days before and made special arrangement to deliver the dissemble 400lbs unit. It is mainly because I thought my family really needed it and 20 years and some 400lbs combine weight increase, it seems they did, but never used.

gifts of the lover as the love of the giver

doesn’t count, what matters is the thought of the lover So give from
