The Reason You Rush

There have been three road deaths in as many days in Barbados, two of them being cyclists on the highway. I have heard people trying to put the blame on the cyclists, claiming that they have a tendency to ride in the road and obstruct traffic. If this really is the case then what do we do as motorists, just plough them down? What ever happen to two wrongs not making a right? I rather think that the problem stems from people rushing to destinations that are serious or frivolous. Yet what ever the circumstance that awaits you, it wants you to arrive there safe. The next life you take might be yours.

The Reason You Rush

Take great care friend, the road too

Has others who wish to get there just like you

Emergencies can easily follow your incongruities

Recklessness, road rage, drunken driving, any of these

Every time you feel to rush remember that you

Are exposing others to danger too

Slow down dear friend it’s better you be late

One wrong turn of the wheel and you can’t keep your date

No schedule you’d made wants to be without you

Your presence is required and those on the road too

Our highways have become the final spot for too many

Unusual accidents happening, untimely

Rushing has been the cause of many of these

Use greater caution when you traverse our highways please

Sitting at the meeting or dining table they wait in calm hush

Have care, Drive to Stay alive, at the other end is The Reason You Rush
