The Father Called And He Obeyed

It is with great sadness that I write this tribute to Reginald Nathaniel Wilkinson but still I write with hope that it can restore joy and offer solace to those who read it.

I’m sad that we as a country have many great moral men and yet we are straying to a more immoral Nation.  I’m sad that the example set by these great men like Reginald are not sufficiently emulated by the majority and that we usually get to know this much about them only when they are gone.

But solace to the family that his work was done and that the Lord Almighty will say “Well done, thou good and faithful servant” The Wilkinson family were blessed with such a patriot and through his great example; they can rest in peace with the knowledge that he Resides In Peace with our Lord, God.

The Father Called And He Obeyed

Reginald Nathaniel Wilkinson

There is much about him that puts a smile on my face

His devotion to God and family, his assuring warm embrace

Every good deed done and never once seeking pay

Father in Heaven for every call you made, my dad did obey

A Superintendent’s job at MTW, where he proved trustworthy

Then husband to my mother Eulene with adoring loyalty

He was loyal too to all 13 children and I can recall

Enjoying his daily attention about having food, my health and all

Reggie, his siblings called him, was the finest brother

Can’t get a child any better, once declared his father and mother

And how he committed to work at your house Lord religiously

Ladder on roof and he would on lots of days supervise everybody

Lord my all so rustic and old dad gave readily often of himself

Every minute cheerful never a concern for his own health

Dad just engendered this faith that encouraged us all

Always made us appreciate the importance of standing tall

Never a callous word or maliciousness to friend or any foe

Dad carried love with him always and where he’d seen sorrow

Honesty and sincerity were his only and true way

Earnestly he shared with people and undid all their dismay

On making Justice of Peace his kind living spread

Bringing more love, doing more to improve the way ahead

Enhanced justice daily to help any in need

Young and old prospered and villagers, they did succeed

Everything you called on him Lord to do, he did when he prayed

Dear Lord you called my daddy to Heaven and he obeyed
