A Ride In The Park

This Ossie Moore joke reminds me of my first day on a bicycle, actually riding on my own. I rode and celebrated that I could do so many of the stunts that I thought was going to require years of riding. Once you get to understand the whole balancing thing then the rest only takes for nerves. I did everything I had the nerves for, just like Ossie, but I didn’t have the luxury of an audience.

A Ride In The Park

Around Ossie rode in the Park and when he came about

Riding without legs on the pedals to his mother he’d shout

I cuh do this mum, look nah feet!

Dear be careful and watch out, don’t go in the street

Enjoying it all he returned riding with only one hand

I cuh do this too, look mum, I is a one hand man!

Now be careful, his mum said, but dah is good

Then he went around again and like the boys from the hood

He had both hands off and shouted, look no hands mum!

Even though his mother was troubled she didn’t succumb

Pedal around Ossie just one last time

And Ossie took longer and returned off the bicycle with a mime

Ready now dear? But why yah tek sah long and why yah on yah feet?

Kaput was the bicycle, Ossie, in impaired tone said “luk mum nuh t’eet”
