The Dining Table

This Ossie Moore joke strays somewhat from the original. It is becoming more difficult to remember the original jokes. These were all told to me while still very young and they haven’t been repeated ever since. I was hoping that the jokes will encourage more people to write me with the ones they remembered, keeping them clean.

The Dining Table

The wedding was over and the honeymoon done

He now had to get the house furniture, one by one

Every thing was paid down for at the department store

Didn’t have enough money left back to pay for anything more

In the afternoon a friend brought a donkey cart

Now Ossie’s wife told him from the very start

I want tah see everything home when I get there

No stopping by friends, mek sure yah bring the table and armchair

Growing more tired by the minute and it was getting late

Then Ossie took up everything and left the table at the store gate

And he rushed across the pasture, barely beating his wife to it

But Ossie, she exclaimed, my table ‘aint get here yet!

Love don’ tell me I rush fah nuttin’, stump mah toe, it cahn be true

Eff I did know, I cuddah walk slow, dah table got four legs, I only got two
