Didn’t work back then, doesn’t work now

One violent act soon follows another, so raise your brow

Make your decision, it cannot be

Every sign says this is approaching cruelty

So decide now, get help, don’t ignore

The signs many like you did before

It seems early I know, but better be early than late

Cause you were meant to be loved and not to berate

Violence is a close cousin of the supposed harmless smack

It disguises in the outskirts until you turn your back

Once you commit to stay after an abusive episode

Life changes for you and you lower your moral code

Eventually tolerant to the physical and the emotional too

No one seems to understand what you are going through

Come now, SAVE yourself, we have others who have been there

Emotional and physical abuse will only lead to very traumatic despair
