The Street Light

The Ossie Moore jokes are harder to come by than when I was very young. It seemed back then that every one had a Ossie joke to tell. I notice while trying to fine Ossie that some people spell his name as Ossey and some people call it as if it were spelt Aussie. They tell me if you want to hear some good old fashion Ossie Moore jokes you only have to find one of the older comedians on the island. Someone who can still remember Gear Box and the Steel Donkey.

The Street Light

The police came and saw Ossie

He stalled for a while to see what he would see

Evening was long gone and it was a dark night

Searching with his head down Ossie was under the street light

Took almost and hour and still the same

Relentlessly Ossie searched with no shame

Every stone he turned under the light

Even lift up the garbage bin that was in clear sight

The police thought he had seen

Loitering masqueraded and that he had been

In view long enough for the assailant to stop

Gimme a chance sir, I was all the way up dey and some money drop’

He asked Ossie, so why aren’t you looking up there

This sir is obvious, yah cuh see bettah wid de street light down here
