Sovereignty has been in question recently The Maritime laws, Fishing Rights and Aliens immigrating illegally Roads are redone and renamed and given roundabouts In times of rains our Water resources still experience droughts Calls for flyovers. Why? They expect to see some uh we flying? They’ve broaden highways, now they got, young ATV drivers trying Got obstructive boulders at a local beach access Unauthorized gates preventing social progress And lots of local businesses being gradually bought out Rich investors and foreigners exerting fiscal clout Developers removing small neighborhoods that they may Install Ovals, Gated Communities and Golf Courses one day All our historic squares and statues are being switch around Nelson is not in So what then do we guard so strictly Or what is our pride, strength and unity? For years I too sung the Anthem, proud with every word Out in public I sung at attention, even when it seemed absurd Under distinct political loyalties, we never riot in the street Racial polarity exists but we still socialize when we meet Have games with each other and we may even marry Equality though in question, our interracial society is healthy Religious buildings are as many as the days in a year In spite of diverse denominations, we have no civil warfare The nation wept together during disasters and pain At Brittons Hill help came from all, no race chose to abstain Globally, Bajans preserve “Back home” with generous patronage Eric Holder joins us all as Strict Guardians Of Our Heritage. |

This is great! All my lkife i never seen anything like your poetry. Deep…deep. Glad i found you to help me reconnect with home.
I say this same thing though not like you, when I visit home. We don’t have any more real heritage in physical Barbados. It is all about the love of the people. I hope we never lose the love.
