Do Hereby Make It Known

Let’s share ourselves with each other. Why should some of us go home to our warm beds while others sleep in the cold streets? I want to make it known that I recognize the difficulties that some people have and that the circumstances that lead a person to the streets is not always of their own making.

Do Hereby Make It Known

Did you notice him this morning, did you say hi

Or did you shrug your shoulders, turn your head and walk by

How about the beggar asking for money to buy bread

Ever gave him your time or do you shun him instead

Remember that guy in class who dropped out from school

Even though he seemed bright, not the typical fool

But fate didn’t allow it, he had to stop

You ever wondered what became of him, did he become a flop

My days take me pass a brother who now sleeps in the street

And though I tried, it’s hard to keep, shoes on his feet

Kindness he sells for temporary highs

Every request is founded on more lies

I want to help him but what do I do

There is nothing I haven’t tried but have you?

Kirk is a beggar, a druggy with a Bachelor’s degree

No education protected him from severe melancholy

Our society is for him a living Hell

We loyal sons and daughter all, Kirk’s under a dark spell

Nationhood is helping our brothers to reap the harvest they’ve sown

Long ago he too planted hope and I Do Hereby Make It Known

As usual another excellent piece. Not many people recognise that we are one paycheck or one meal away from being someone like Kirk.
