The Pride Of Nationhood

We have much to celebrate and every time there is someone that manages to capture the eyes from international organizations or the world at large, I heard the same phrase “they put Barbados on the map.” The truth is this globe will now have a multiplicity of lands called Barbados because we have be placed on the map many times. From the time I was very young I heard of the many people who contributed to our international appeal in some way. I have little doubt that people abroad will say the never heard of Barbados like they once used to when I travelled. But the thing that really makes us special does not put us on the map at all but in bond us where ever we are.

The Pride Of Nationhood

To all those who for many days

Have worn the flag in various ways

Envoys who unofficially played their role

Putting the Bajan name up front with heart and soul

Remembering “Barbados, this one is for you!”

In the peak of excitement on their world debut

Doing their bit to raise our flag up high

Exalting our people and bringing the world nigh

Outstanding performances for the world to see

Facing personal challenges but remembering “all ah we”

Never forgetting to return

And share with your neighbors the stardom you earn

Those who silently behind the scene

Improve society and strive to make it morally clean

Or the professionals that always do their best

Neutralizing feuds, making our people better than the rest

Hooray I raise my hands to salute

Our people whose deeds are honorable, beyond dispute

One deed after the other, those who do all they could

Deeds to reflect The Pride Of Nationhood
