A Pride That Makes No Wanton Boast

Every since we had an International superstar it seems like we have forgotten the toil that some others go through to achieve their greatness and go unnoticed. If you consider the number of hours scholars put in to achieve their greatness. I know an athlete can train for years too but how ever many years a 21 years old athlete trained for the 13.14 secs fame, how does that really compare with someone achieving their PhD. What celebration do we give them and what about the years of yeomen service they will give this country. I say lets celebrate all our people in all walks of life.

A Pride That Makes No Wanton Boast

Any where I go

People love my show

Rather here or abroad

I rise to an applaud

Do it again they say

Encore, let the band play

Then to their appeal

Hands clapping they seal

Another piece

They deserve to hear another release

My forte is singing but I know

All the other Bajans these place I go

Kudos are theirs and seldom do they

Enjoy the perks I do today

So many academics who achieve their first class degree

No thunderous applause like people give me

Or the professionals, medical, legal and others

Why don’t they get their applause, no one bothers

A great number of our people are great

Never given applause, don’t we appreciate

The contributions of all our people in their walks of life

Or are we just focus on the millionaire and his wife

Now when I walk the streets the paparazzi

Brave my body guards to get pictures of me

One shot of A Girl Like Me sold to a collector

And no fuss is made of our Private or Public sector

Self-effacing and loyal in their every post

They have A Pride That Makes No Wanton Boast
