From Which Our Pride Has Sprung

I have fantasized before going back in time to make all things right. Suppose this time I don’t go back that far but rather this time just far enough that I may plant the seeds that I can reap the kind of crop I know will serve our island. There is something that we have to sow, short in harvesting that I wish I could go back and learn the skills of the forefathers and then plant the seeds that would give us an abundance of bounty

From Which Our Pride Has Sprung

For years I wished I were there

Returned to that time in the past where

Our forefather planted the seeds

Meager starters for magnanimous deeds

When impoverish men with unrelenting toil

Had the foresight to turn into the soil

Incredible seeds of unusual form

Crystallize kernels out of the norm

How great it would be to know

Our forefathers’ skill to make all things grow

Unleash the power of the earth

Reap things like they did but of greater worth

Put those traits I want more

Real character builders and none I’ll ignore

I want to sow integrity

Dig up the soil and plant honesty

Efficiency and loyalty I’ll spread around

Happiness and charity would be in my ground

And with diligence I’ll work like they did

Search the soil daily and I’ll forbid

Snails and other vermin from harming my crop

Put all measures in place 24 hours non stop

Round the clock vigilance on these treasured seeds

Used to fulfill all the nations’ dire needs

Nations could improve if people would plant these seeds from young

Grow them in the manner From Which Our Pride Has Sprung
