If I Could Only Talk

For years people have tried to put words to what the Rooster says. I listen carefully and I can’t get anything from it. I think the rooster doesn’t believe that he is saying anything special. If he was then why repeat it so often in the morning for so many mornings? Why if he is waking me up, would he choose to crow at 11:30pm, just last night?

If I Could Only Talk

I didn’t say that

For years it was idle chat

I got on the roof top

Cockle Doodle Doo then I stopped

One human put words to my crow

Unfair words I know

Lots of people are now repeatedly

Discrediting my crowing unfairly

On mornings for years I’ve tried

No one seems to believe that man had lied

Laughing at my attempts to turn things around

Yet every morning I get up to take the highest ground

Then to the top of my lungs I crow

And if you listen you too would know

Lies, somebody telling lies about my Cockle Doodle Doo

Keep saying I lazy and ask “How could you do so little too”
