Naming The Rooster
The new Cockle Doodle Doo Morning Show that I have been listening to is about to name their star rooster. The co-host toyed with the name Ethel, but of course his colleague can’t agree. Who can? Surely you can be calling a rooster by such a feminine name. This reminds me of Johnny Cash’s “A Boy Named Sue.” I have my own recommendation for this radio station and I have incorporated them here.

No doubt A name like Ethel is out Masculinity is the essence behind a rooster’s crow I can’t have you calling him Ethel after some women I
know Names say a lot of who we are Got a name like Sue as a boy and life’s a constant spar The boys named Alyson, Gene and Shirley Have trouble confirming their gender to everybody Ethel for a rooster will be bad too Risk this and expect a different sounding “Cockle doodle
doo!” Old cocks feel that when they stand erect Open their chest and let out a crow, we’ll get Sounds of royalty that we’ll take seriously Their “Cockle Doodle doo!” bellows with pure masculinity Ethel can’t do but maybe a name like Brewster Rooster if you like can be called, Schuster the Rooster!. |
