Promise Tonight

What are the last thoughts you have when you lay down to rest? I have so little time when I lay down to sleep but I remember these words that crowd my head. My heart speaks and reminds me of the joy to love and be loved. I’m happy to have my love ones around me and when I go to bed, I pray that my friends will remember that I love them.

 

Promise Tonight

 

Pray for me my friend, pray for me

Remember me to the Lord Almighty

One moment before you go to bed

May thoughts of me linger in your head

I have had difficulty finding words to say

Such few words have found my lips each day

Every time I try to explain

These few words burst my lips again

Once, just once I would like to be

Not speaking their brief litany

I buckle up tightly but when you’re around

Got no control, and as I’ve found

Hearts that love may hemorrhage words that are few

Tonight as you go to bed, remember I love you
