Endless Nightmare

There is no end to the recurring nightmare that this young lady will now face. I worked alongside of criminals who had been jailed for past crimes or who may have escaped the grasp of the law, repeatedly. And with of this, few of them are recognized by the public or ridiculed. They have done their time. I am therefore disturbed that this young lady who could have like the thousands every year, aborted their children, killed them before they even got viable, and for this, nothing. Yet, this 21 year old, confused and traumatized. Filled with the hormones associated with pregnancy and broken by emotional stressed, she did the unthinkable and when she returned to correct it, her mistake was already discovered and her nightmare began.

Endless Nightmare

Even though she had been wide awake

Nightmare followed from her big mistake

Dumping her child in a traumatic trance

Led her to the people’s sentencing and no chance

Exposed by the media, she made front page

Soon Bajans learnt who was responsible for their overnight rage

Shocked by her age and the innocence on her face

Never did Bajans expect such a youthful waste

I see a greater lost from this tragedy

Girl’s life destroyed not from her deed but because we

Have no facility for mothers to leave

Their babies by the church, police or Hospital, with reprieve

Many states in America recognize such distress

And provide mothers a legal action when they feel powerless

Repair is now impossible, the publication is out there

Ellis and baby are sentenced for life in a Endless Nightmare
