Scampering On The Beach

I am usually scared of what I can meet in the water and usually stay away from all the dark spots. I scan the waters but my vision is so poor and as you know, no spectacles in the sea so it is even worse. I stay close to other who can see better in case but sometimes things happen so fast, seeing would have made no difference

Scampering On The Beach

Sharks threaten the waters still we go in

Can’t get enough of sea bathing

And when I go in I remember Jaws

Movie sequel that scared and change the bathing laws

People have warning signs all over the beach

Erected life guard stations in everyone’s reach

Risking little then, we would bathe the same place

It’s been decades now and it’s like our space

Not many people bathe there in our spot

Got regulars who return but others do not

On this day I saw a regular sitting on the sand

Not going in was strange and I didn’t understand

Then I asked her and she said she was afraid to get attack

Her earlier bath scared her and she wasn’t going back

Eyes wide opened I stayed waste high

But that was no defense the attacker escaped my eye

Eaten, a bite on the hand, I ran but didn’t get away

And my mother too was bitten and dreading this day

Couldn’t believe how many and how futile, they were all about

Hungry little crabs had us scampering to get out
