A Knocking At The Door

A friend was posting a picture of Jesus knocking on the door when I remembered another story. You see, Satan knocks regularly too. How then do you know when to open and when, in the words of the old Sunday school verse, just say “No, no, no!”

Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

A Knocking At The Door

A dismal day was upon me so I thought to pray

Knelt on my cushion my traditional way

Nothing afterwards would be traditional though

On that day I heard a knock and said Yes! Hello!

Couldn’t believe I was being interrupted again

Knocking was persistent so I said Yes! Come In!

I don’t recall getting up to my feet

Nor did I see someone to greet

Got a feeling though that someone came in

And from that moment I felt freed from sin

The days past on and I felt my praise

Thanked the Lord for his presence over those days

He told me never again will I be alone

Endeavour ‘til the end, you’re never on your own

Days were never dismal again so I knelt to pray

On that same cushion, in that same way

On the door temptation knocked, disturbingly

Relax, the Lord said leave this one to me
