For Daésha Scantlebury

There was an article in today’s paper which feature a little six years old child that the writer says has a sensational singing voice and is particularly keen on serving the Lord. The writer discovered the talent on a visit to church and learnt that not only can she sing but she had an astute memory, beyond her years and therefore reciting Bible verses and Psalms was very normal for her.

I think that when we see the innocents in a child that we are blessed to see God’s pure uncorrupted work and it is hard not to follow.

For Daésha Scantlebury

Father who art in heaven

Our paths can be led by a child not yet seven

Reciting Matthew 5:14-16

Daésha Scantlebury has shown that her interest is keen

A singing sensation who makes the grade

Enjoys reading Bible stories and her evangelical crusade

She loves her mother’s cooking, cou cou and salt fish

Has a liking for pork and chicken and rice and peas is a favorite dish

All in all she’s still a child with childish craves

Snakes and ladders, ludo and modeling but she never misbehaves

Charnocks Pentacostal Church may be home, but she

Always uses opportunity to spread her ministry

Never forgetting the importance of your word

Though she breaches the adage, ”Children should be seen and not heard”

Lord you said “Suffer the little children to come on to me”

Even told us that a child would lead us to spiritual safety

Bubbly Daésha loves the song “He Healed A Blind Man”

Unusual favorite for a kid this young, but Lord I understand

Righteousness preserved early in youth is our upbringing

Young children will lead us to “Enter into your presence with singing”
