We Will Come By

Friends call sometimes out of concern and sometimes, meaning well and having good intent, say “We will come by” and I never see them. This expecting and waiting can drain a person adversely and because it does emotionally too, you tend to doubt people’s truthfulness about all their promises. This can’t be fair because I have a trusting heart and wish to believe in people.

We Will Come By

When they called they would say

Expect us very soon, every day

We will come by, we want to see you

I’ve stopped expecting what they say to be true

Like people may say that they thought of me

Laugh, they may have had a fleeting memory

Can you go out they me ask, to invite

Only to learn I don’t go out at night

My friends are good friends but though they care

Every promise seems to be words said in fear

But I wish my true friends will come to know

You don’t make fleeting promises for hopes to grow
