Christians In Politics

Call came from Germany today for me

How are you? my friend asked and started to be

Really careful to not engage me too much

I am used to the concern, the careful touch

So we spoke of things like we always do

The family, health but then, of politics too

I heard the opinions we both share

And the differences were greater, I fear

Now, in under an hour we were able to define

So much of my friend’s views and so much on mine

It felt like back at school when we

Never saw eye to eye, we could never agree

People killed in wars, abortion, lobbyist and contributions

Obama’s reduce popularity and questionable positions

Lots of what was said may have been overly passionate

I heard my friend’s views again and they were compassionate

Through all the back and forth something was wrong

I had lost touch of what my friend said all along

Christians in Politics is impossible when mixed

So until politicians all become Christians, little can be fixed
