In Cloak Of Night

This is my second take on that story my mother told me. War is frightening for most and thankfully I don’t have any real experience being in a war but the mock wars bring most things to life. I saw the lights how they lit the dark skies and quick burses of my comrades features flashed infront of me. I heard the noise and saw the possible victims if we we with harm’s way. I know the possibility of war and I see how quickly a country at peach can suddenly turn on its self.

In Cloak Of Night

It was the worst of wars and they were out numbered

Nothing could explain why their platoon was not yet discovered

Camp Commander caught one of his soldiers sneaking back in

Looks like he’d been doing this often so the CO accused him of spying

Only the soldier said, “No, Commander, I went out to pray”

And I’ve been doing it every night since we came this way

Kneel down! The Commander said, with a gun to his head

Our procedures say Court Marshall but I’d rather shoot you instead

“Father,” the soldier prayed while there on his knees

No more will I be asking but take care of my comrades please!

I thank you for the protection you gave us every night

God you knew if found, we could never win a fight!”

His Commander heard and straight away understood

Then told the soldier “Arise, I know your heart now and it is good!”
