She Stepped Gingerly
|
She Stepped Gingerly Shush, she seemed to say with each prowling step Had to be quiet, she arched her back then she leapt Executing her art like a cold blooded pro Skills that through running wild, she had come to know Then off she ran, with alarming haste Everything shifted into a scurried paste Passed the first house, then the second and at the third
Pecks were showered and a symphony of squaws heard Every blackbird outside converged in the mango tree Disturbed by the cat unusual bravery Ginger is fed with tuna and milk every day I saw the neighbors feeding her and from what they say Never does she need to catch birds, lizards or mice Got no call being barbaric, but nature still seemed to
entice Eating from hunts but the blackbirds chose not to agree Relentless squawking noises called out mummy “Look,
shoo, get from hey!” she scolded Ginger who was seeking to hide “Yah
bettah leggo dah bird before the rest tear holes in yah backside!” |
