Another House Spot

The more we urbanize, the more we destroy the natural beauty of our topography. But there are more important changes going on, birds are losing the natural places to build their nest. The more we do it, the more birds are seeking to build nests in our plants, in our patios. If we can have a last shot at humanity and recognize that we are, like the birds, residents of earth with equal rights to live then may be we should tiptoe and help then when they come squatting.

Another House Spot

All the shrubs being cut down to widen the roads

No thought given to establish nesting codes

Only interested in driving their big cars

Through classy neighborhoods like movie stars

Housing and development destroy more bush

Environmental consciousness now gone on a hush

Rental apartments and high rises now becoming a norm

How they expect the sparrow birds to keep their eggs warm

One bird weaved its nest in a plant pot at me

Under the patio roof, clear where I could see

Sheltering from the elements, the bird chose inside

Every time I pass it I tiptoe but our natures collide

She leaves her three eggs startled, when I open the door

Placing the pot in safety, I’d risk her not coming back anymore

Only a few weeks and she’ll be gone but what then

They destroy birds homes so some birds may need squat again
