Lets Talk Culture

They say they will soon be having a show to talk about culture. What is culture? I lost track of what is me long time ago and I can barely read some of the things written in Bajan. Maybe they should have taught me Bajan at school, I was good with languages and still remember some Latin, French, Italian and Spanish from school days and might even show of with a more than casual acquaintance with German and Japanese. But I’m no good at writing Bajan. I still try ever once in a while

Lets Talk Culture

Last chance to see

Eff these things we do is we

There will be discussions where you can say

Something about anything that troubles you today

This is we culture, I always hear

And still I feel like I’ve been living elsewhere

Look at the streets, they used to be small gaps

Kept stand pipes where people bathe under taps

Cross the road where there was a pasture

Used to play marble cricket and during rains, was one with nature

Lots of neighborhoods where you knew everybody

Transformed, now strangers live in a gated community

Under the tamarind tree where I got chopped

Retailers have a Mall, some classy membership shop

Everything thing I knew as a child, that I thought was Bajan

Some how gone, replaced, so Gabby, this is my Emmerton!
