I’m happy to have my poetry read on radio as regularly as it has been read.  I’m also glad that people are starting to realize that the poems are done within moments of hearing something said, I believe it is through this that people might realize that these are inspirations, well beyond my control. The other thing which has not been apparent to all and which is never discussed is the message in the poem. One message in this poem that is important to me is the fact that our Monarch for 2009 started his reign with a show of generosity. He shared his bounty with the runner up. If Calypso has been responsible for setting the tone in the country then I look forward to this new culture of giving.

 

People’s Monarch   Put two great choices and what do we get Edwin defeated Mickey and you can bet Our count is the feelings of the People’s Voice People have texted to make their choice Lots of voters participated and we thank you all Everyone texted and registered their call Songs qualified but nothing were like this Middle Uh De Road mashed them up and Edwin in bliss Offered to give runner up Mickey 10 thousand Never before have I heard such generosity in competition And we hope this new culture of giving will spread   Right throughout the season and the years up ahead Calypso has carved the way in our culture for many years Having Edwin as the People Monarch 2009 may dispel our people’s fears
