Did You Read About The Cherry Tree?

Did You Read About The Cherry Tree Down in the valley where an orchard grew I found a Cherry Tree unlike others I knew Dew drops fell from her leaves above You could feel her warm, seeping love Of her four branches, one blossomed more Under its leaves were cherries galore Ripe with age and ready to pick Each in reach, low down, I didn’t need a stick And I indulged with them, then I laid to rest Dried branches brushed upon my chest And laying underneath, I could see Bigger fruit closer, growing there, separately On that branch nothing like I’d ever seen Under all the morning bloom, each red with no green This told me that these low ones, before unnoticed Took all the dew drops and diffused rays, to become like
this How often people pass by and don’t know Enticing fruit can be found where low branches grow Cherries were hidden from view, from where I stood However laying on my back, there I could Eye them to an advantage and was allowed to see Red appetizing fruit staring back at me Resting there I thought I could come again Yes, I’ll bring a bag and pick them, if there’s no rain This tree is special and others pass it by Rotten apples have led them away to tracks up high Even careful hikers in expeditions can go astray Error is theirs, I’ll collect and give my sister a Happy
Birthday |
