Don't Tell No Body

I just heard a Calypso that brought tears to my eyes. The girl that sang it said that it often causes her to cry too. Calypso are meant to make you feel like dancing. This one sends you thinking.

I heard social commentary that addresses tender topics but never tenderly. I can usually still rock to the music. This I don’t think I could.

Don’t Tell No Body

Dry eyes turned glassy then a tear drops

Only way to control it is if the singing stops

No calypso should be this emotional

The calypso wasn’t like the usual

They usually make me feel to wind

Except this one blew my mind

Listening to this young artist, I was convinced

Lots of people experience what I have since

Neurological disorder took my dad

Once he was gone I have been treated bad

By my mother’s friends who make me shame

On nights they abuse me, they’re all the same

Don’t tell no body they say when they are gone

Yesterday I told my mom I’ll be seeing dad this dawn
