This Is What We Do

The name of one of the great Calypsos is embodied here and describes the chemistry that Kaiso, good Kaiso has on us all. Even those of us who are the most conservative still enjoy a good calypso and there are some of us who will never resist their rhythms.

I was one such individual who danced at every opportunity and sometimes even at times that may not have been the most opportune of times.

This Is What We Do

The right mix of rhythm and song

How the drums roll makes me want to roll along

I feel to toss my hips and wind my waste

Show my heritage at my Caribbean paste

I can wuk-up like the soca specialists and the rest

Sometimes my body moves like some of the best

Wukkin-up is about the freedom we feel and letting it out

Having no restrictions, letting your expressions shout

And immersing yourself into the Kaiso beat

To its rhythmic pan ripples, let them control your feet

When I hear this kind of music playing any where I go

Even in professional corridors, all I know

Dance overcomes me and I dance like I don’t know who

Once I hear this music I feel to wuk-up cause This Is What We Do
