Farewell Friend

My family wishes to say Farewell to our friend. We watch as Lionel transformed over the years, becoming more and more ill in his body but stronger in his spirit and love for the Lord.

Today we believe that through his works and belief, that he has repented his sins and accepted Christ as his Holy Savior.  With these  and God’s promises, I expect that he now resides with God

Farewell Friend

Father you called our friend today

And like a loyal servant he did obey

Reached down and took him by his hand

Eased him up and with your gentle command

Whispered the familiar word “Arise!”

Even though the body does, the soul never dies

Lionel, was tired and his body was weak

Labored to move and could barely speak

For a long time he missed his early morning walk

Regretted not seeing gardens of flowers and birds that flock

It was hard to watch him suffer in pain

Every day it returned again and again

No more sorrow or pain and he’ll see flowers and birds today

Dear Lord you called our friend home and he did obey

With Deepest Sympathy
