The Michael Jackson I Knew

Tears had taken hold of me

He was my favorite celebrity

Every since I was a kid I felt this way

Michael Jackson lost his life today

I saw him as a pioneer

Created and promoted a way everywhere

He encouraged many to keep rats as pets

All because he sung of Ben, with no regrets

Early in the 70’s he wore an Afro

Lots of boys loved it and would let their hair grow

Jackets, pants, hats, belts, shoes and his single white glove

All created trendy fashions and were symbols of love

Cancer patients got his attention and that of others too

Kindness spread as Michael encouraged those better off to do

Soon there was more philanthropy to African countries

Opening of more children’s charities

No other entertainer has given so much time

I know this celebrity to give more than just a nickel and dime

Kudos for his performances and the trends he created there

Not before his was there a Moonwalk now it’s everywhere

Everywhere there are music video now too because of him

When I heard of Michael’s death, suddenly a future seemed dim
