The Wuk-up Festival

The radio announcer was dealing with wuk-up dance and tried to demonstrate that there is a special clean symbolism with the heritage of wuk-up dance. There is still a truth with the corruption of this dance but we can’t just see the bad part of this pure expression of the Caribbean People.

The Wuk-up Festival

There is much debate recently

How Crop-Over is becoming a lewd party

Entertainers producing hip tossing, gyrating and juck me so

Wukkin-up songs dethroning the social commentary Kaiso

Upgraded music that has great familiarity

Kidsite suggest the radio stations give them their popularity

Unsure myself because the old calypsonians on Fireworks

Pushed for social commentary and less sexual quirks

Farley has a campaign to give Crop-Over a rest

Exclude all the celebrations during this summer fest

Suggesting too that radio has spread the harmful culture

Taken the country into moral decay as they circle like a vulture

I can’t agree with them although I want cleaner lyrics

Very creative writings about society and its politics

And I could never agree that blame falls on the radio station

Let us not unfairly place blame for the corruption of our Nation
